Thursday, April 7, 2022

Mozambique’s INP, or National Petroleum Institute, has announced the qualifying applicants from its 6th Licensing Round.   Twelve companies were qualified as operators, including global supermajors, and six as non-operators. One company failed to qualify.

Qualifying as operators are CNOOC Ltd, Sinopec International Energy Investment, ENI Mozambico, ExxonMobil Mozambique (Offshore 6), Petro China International Iraq, and Total Energies EP New Venture.

The qualifying non-operators are RN Angoche, NOVATEK, Qatar Petroleum Mozambique, Sasol Africa, ONGC Videsh, and Discovery Exploration.

Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production did not meet the requirements for pre-qualification.

The subsequent stage will comprise the licensing of a minimum of geoscience data for the companies that do not yet have them in order to substantiate the evaluation of the petroleum potential of the areas of interest and the submission of the corresponding proposals by August 30, 2022. According to the approved timetable, the results will be published on November 30, 2022.

The geoscience data can be viewed at INP’s physical and virtual Dataroom, whose visit procedures are available on the official INP website.
