Another rig has left the GoM in light of the US ban on deepwater drilling. Transocean’s Marianas rig is the first from the company to leave the GoM since the suspension came into effect.
The Marianas left last week bound for Nigeria and joins more than one GoM rig off the coast of Africa. The rig, prior to its new contract was under contract with Italy’s ENI for drilling on the GoM’s Triton field.
In July a Diamond Offshore rig, the Ocean Endeavour, left the GoM bound for work offshore Egypt in the Mediterranean. Following the Ocean Endeavour’s departure, Diamond’s Ocean Confidence left for a gig off the coast of the Republic of Congo.
