TotalEnergies Seeks Production License in South Africa

Thursday, September 8, 2022

TotalEnergies has submitted an application for a production license for Block 11B/12B offshore South Africa, according to the state regulator Petroleum Agency of South Africa (PASA).

In an email statement to Reuters, PASA said the application was submitted before an upcoming deadline which could have resulted in TotalEnergies losing its rights to develop its large Brulpadda and Luiperd natural gas discoveries made in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

TotalEnergies joint venture partners in Block 11B/12B include QatarEnergy and Canadian Natural Resources.
