In an interview with Dow Jones Newswires, George Kirkland, Chevron Corp.’s Executive Vice President for Global Upstream and Gas said the company’s Tombua-Landana development in Angola will come online soon.
“It’s imminent,” said Kirkland. “We’ll be announcing start-up, I think, very shortly.”
The project is the third development in Chevron’s Benguela Belize Lobito Tomboco (BBLT) project in offshore Block 14. Overall cost for the oilfield is expected to reach $3.8 billion
Kirkland said during the announcement of the company’s Q2 results that hook-up and commissioning for the field was about 90% complete. It is expected that three wells will be available at first oil. The Tombua-Landana project is expected to reach 100,000 bpd by 2011 with continued development drilling.
