Sonatrach Signs Agreement to Boost Local Participation of Micro-Enterprises in the Petroleum Sector

A cooperation agreement was signed Tuesday in Algiers between Algerian state oil and gas firm Sonatrach and the National Agency for Support and Development of Entrepreneurship (Anade ex Ansej), relating to the development of micro-enterprises in their entrusting projects falling within business segments of Sonatrach and / or its sectors.

Organized at the headquarters of Sonatrach, the signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Micro-enterprises, Nassim Diafat.

Mr. Arkab estimated that the signing of this agreement will make it possible to establish the necessary framework to facilitate the participation of micro-enterprises in the development of Sonatrach Group’s projects in the various fields of hydrocarbons, calling for the execution of the agreement “as quickly as possible.”

It is, moreover, the occasion for the young entrepreneurs “to acquire the required experience” and the “mastery of the most recent techniques which will make them the strike force of Algeria in the hydrocarbons sector,” Arkab explained.

This agreement represents the legal framework which allows micro-enterprises to benefit from the markets which will be made available to them through specifications in the various fields of activity of Sonatrach and its subsidiaries.

A joint committee will be set up no later than 30 days after the signing of this agreement, whose mission is to monitor the implementation and execution of the agreement.
