The Skikda GL1K Natural Gas Liquefaction Complex is back online having resumed production on July 30, 2021, according to state firm Sonatrach. The complex had been undergoing maintenance following a technical incident that occurred on June 11.
Following the incident, as a precaution, Sonatrach carried out an in-depth inspection of the gas turbine subject to damage. The technical shutdown lasted 45 days with the anticipation of the 30-day maintenance work scheduled for 2022, and saw the mobilization of Algerian engineers and technicians working in 2 shifts and taking turns 24 hours a day. Repairs were carried out on time with the assistance of the manufacturer.
LNG deliveries to Sonatrach’s customers continued normally with the commissioning of the liquefaction modules available from our Arzew Complexes GL3Z, GL1Z and GL2Z and the NOC’s commercial commitments were fully respected.
