Shell Makes Another Oil Find in Namibia’s Orange Basin

Supermajor Shell and partners have made another oil discovery offshore Namibia, in the Orange Basin.  The discovery in the Lesedi-1x well, comes just months after the Jonker-1X deepwater well discovery in the Namibia PEL-39 Exploration License was announced.

Shell operates PEL-39 and this is the supermajor’s fourth discovery in the Orange Basin. State firm NAMCOR and QatarEnergy are partners in the license.

Shell recently received governmental approval to drill another 10 wells in the license and the drilling of a fifth well is reportedly already underway.
