RELEASE–The Republic of Guinea Completes Working Visit with Hyperdynamics
Wednesday, October 3, 2007
HOUSTON, Oct 02, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Hyperdynamics Corporation (AMEX:HDY) announced today that the presidential delegation from The Republic of Guinea has completed a full and focused agenda of work with Hyperdynamics Corporation.
On September 22, 2006, the Republic of Guinea signed a new Production Sharing Contract (2006 PSC) with Hyperdynamics’ wholly owned subsidiary, SCS Corporation (SCS). SCS has performed oil and gas exploration work for Guinea since in 2002. Based on its historic work, the Guinean State executed the 2006 PSC binding itself with SCS as its oil and gas exploration and production partner. Of historical significance, on Thursday, September 27, 2007, a delegation from the Republic of Guinea, led by President Lansana Conte’s Secretary General, Mr. Mamady Sam Soumah, arrived in Houston specifically to work with Hyperdynamics and SCS. In addition to the Secretary General, the delegation included Mr. Louis Auguste Leroy, Director of the Presidential Press Bureau, Mrs. Maladho Diallo, the president’s translator, a camera crew, and appropriate security officials.
On Thursday night a reception and dinner were held in the honor of the delegation where Hyperdynamics’ Chief Executive, Kent Watts, addressed them with a prepared speech that was translated to French by his assistant Mrs. Drex Mallory. On Friday morning there was a formal reception held at Houston‘s City Hall. The presentation was presided over by City Council Member, M. J. Khan. Thereafter, in-depth technical meetings ensued for the rest of the day. They received a thorough update on the exploration work completed to date and the forward exploration program. On Saturday they were flown to Northeast Louisiana where they were able to tour parts of Hyperdynamics’ production operations. They returned through Galveston, Texas where they toured the area where offshore rigs are brought for repairs. On the way back to Houston, the delegation traveled through the Texas cities of La Marque, Texas City, La Porte, Deer Park, and Pasadena. They were able to see the largest concentration of petrochemical manufacturing in the world. Also along the way, of significant interest, was seeing a natural gas fueled electrical power plant, something they would love to have in Guinea.
On Sunday, before the delegation left, a press conference was held and Kent Watts made the following statement:
"We would like to thank President Lansana Conte for sending his distinguished delegation to the ‘Energy Capital of The World’. We commend Secretary General Sam Soumah for his leadership. During this trip the Guinea delegation has been updated on Hyperdynamics’ exploration progress. We are now prepared to move forward together in a manner of solidarity and cooperation surrounding the task ahead. Working together we can accelerate our work towards the goal to discover energy for Guinea and the world."
Dr. Thierno Keita, Technical Consultant for SCS Corporation Guinea SARL, stated that, "we spent the entire time with the members of the delegation and based on our many conversations with them, it is clear that they accomplished their goal to get a technical update and set a policy for solidarity and cooperation with us going forward."
When asked to comment, Famourou Kourouma, Hyperdynamics’ Vice President of Guinea Affairs said, "We had a great visit. More details of the visit and comments from the delegation will be forthcoming as made available and after the Secretary General has had a chance to report back to the Chief of State in Guinea."
