PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) and its partners Sonatrach and CNOOC saw successful drilling results in their third exploration phase of Algeria’s Hassi Bir Rakaiz project. The partners have seen success on 10 out of 11 wells drilled on the Hasi Bir Rakaiz exploration campaign started in 2014.
Under the third exploration phase, the Rhourde Ez-Zita-1bis (REZ-1bis) exploration well was drilled to a total depth of 4,037 meters. The well saw a DST of the TAGI formations flow at a rate of 6,152 bpd of oil and 6.5 Mmcf/d of associated gas.
The well also flowed at a rate of 302 bpd of oil and 0.2 Mmcf/d of associated gas from the Ordovician (Ouargla Sandstone). PTTEP said the well confirmed the huge potential of the BOG discovery.
Somporn Vongvuthipornchai, PTTEP President and CEO, said “We are very satisfied with results of REZ-1bis. It marks a significant oil flow rate in the Hassi Bir Rekaiz project added up to the previous exploration campaigns.”
