New Director for Nigeria’s DPR

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

A new director for Nigeria’s Department of Petroleum Resources has been installed according to the Ministry of Petroleum. Andrew Obaji was promoted from deputy director to lead the regulatory agency, replacing Billy Agha, who has been appointed group executive director of NNPC’s Engineering and Technology division.

NNPC said late Monday the changes were aimed at "repositioning the NNPC and DPR for greater efficiency in line with the aspiration of acting president Goodluck Jonathan."

Jonathan, who assumed executive powers from ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua, asserted his new authority by installing a new cabinet earlier this month that included Diezani Alison-Madueke as oil minister. He also named Shehu Ladan to head NNPC.
