All of Spain’s supplies of Algerian natural gas will be provided through the Medgaz gas pipeline, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, stated last Thursday in Algiers. Minister Arkab, who received, at the headquarters of his ministerial department, the Spanish ambassador to Algeria, Fernando Moran, affirmed “Algeria’s total commitment to cover all of Spain’s gas supplies. natural through the Medgaz pipeline,” according to a statement from the Ministry.
The Minister highlighted the recent projects initiated, like the project to extend the capacity of the Medgaz gas pipeline directly linking Algeria to Spain. He also emphasized the capacities available to Algeria to meet the “increasingly growing” demand for gas from European markets and more particularly the Spanish market, thanks to the flexibility in terms of capacities. of liquefaction available to the country.
Arkab also reiterated the efforts made by Algeria to guarantee the security of natural gas supplies to the Spanish market through the significant investments made to deliver natural gas under the best conditions on this market.
In addition, Minister Arkab addressed the new law on Hydrocarbons and its impact on the partnership, by inviting the Spanish companies to further strengthen their presence in Algeria and benefit from the advantages offered by the new legislation.
Further, during the meeting the two parties examined the cooperation relations between Algeria and Spain in the field of energy, “qualified as excellent, in particular those relating to the supply of Natural Gas to the Spanish market in leaving Algeria,” according to the press release.
To this end, the Minister welcomed the “excellent” state of relations between the two countries in this area and reiterated “Algeria’s will to strengthen these relations and promote the partnership between the two countries to the benefit of both parties.”
