The National Oil Corporation announced the resumption of production at the Al-Farag field by the Waha Oil Company. The field had been shut in nearly a year since the closure of the oil ports during January 2020.
As a result of these closures and the deteriorating security situation in the country, the contracting company that oversaw the experimental operation of the gas plant left when force majeure was declared. After the force majeure was lifted in September, Al-Waha began difficult negotiations to persuade the company to complete the trial operation and return to the field. Upon reaching an agreement with the contractor, they began to fully inspect all vessels and surface equipment and the operation was successfully restarted.
