Escravos GTL Plant Pushed Back to 2012

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

The planned Nigerian Escravos GTL plant will be delayed according to a recent SEC filing by US major Chevron Corp. Originally slated to come online in 2011, the plant is now expected to come online in 2012 Chevron says.

The Escravos GTL facility has been designed to process natural gas supplied from the Phase 3A expansion of the Escravos Gas Plant (EGP). At the end of 2008, engineering was essentially complete and facility construction was under way. Chevron has a 75% interest in the $5.9 billion GTL plant. In the February 26 filing, Chevron said that the Phase 3A expansion of the Escravos Gas Plant would begin producing in 2010.
