ENI’s CEO Claudio Descalzi met with Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in Cairo to discuss the Italian firm’s activities in the country. The meeting between the two follows ENI’s massive natural gas discovery in the Mediterranean last month.
During the meeting Descalzi presented the development plan for the Zohr field to Sisi. The parties confirmed the joint commitment to accelerate the production start-up of the field.
Furthermore, they discussed the possibility of setting up a gas hub in the eastern Mediterranean Sea aimed at making the Egyptian transport and export facilities also available for the nearby discoveries.
