Emerson Releases Geolog 20

Monday, November 2, 2020

We are pleased to announce the release of Geolog™ 20, the latest version of our industry-leading solution for formation evaluation and petrophysical analysis. Whether you’re a petrophysicist, a geologist or an engineer, Geolog 20 delivers the same proven Geolog technology and usability throughout the work cycle.

Geolog 20 offers many new and enhanced features in a modern, easy-to-use interface. The version has been designed to provide easier access to data, with the ability to rapidly access recently used wells with minimal mouse clicks. In all views in Geolog 20, a new ribbon-like toolbar and menus with intuitive icons help guide users to the functionality they need to quickly and accurately appraise and interpret their reservoir.

Some of the new and enhanced features in Geolog 20 include:

  • Faster access to data, processing tools and views to visualize and interpret results
  • Increased deterministic petrophysics functionality for thin beds, unconventional shale plays and the specific requirements of the CIS market
  • Streamlined processing and interpretation workflow for NMR data to deliver faster results
  • Ability to rapidly assess optimal combination of inputs to predict properties in Facimage using new interactive best predictors tool
  • Enhanced borehole images with new image inpainting workflow to infill gaps on pad-based electrical image logs
  • Expansion of Geolog’s automated reporting functionality to the Geosteering workflow, allowing the creation of detailed status reports using user-defined templates during geosteering operations

This release enhances Geolog’s data connectivity and openness with support for Petrel* 2020, the release of PYGG (a Python implementation of our cgglib database access libraries) and upgraded Python support.

At Emerson, product development is carried out in collaboration with our customers, with the main goal of delivering superior outcomes and enhancing the user experience and outcomes. We invite our Geolog customers to attend the virtual Geolog User Group Meeting on November 10. We encourage you to explore the many new features of Geolog 20, and we look forward to your continued support and suggestions for improving our product lines.
