Egypt and Israel Discuss Processing Israeli Gas for Re-Export

According to a statement released on the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ Facebook page, Egypt and Israel are discussing the possibility for Israeli gas to be liquefied at Egyptian natural gas liquefaction plants for re-export.

Tarek El-Molla, Egypt’s petroleum minister and his Israeli counterpart Karen El-Harr held bilateral talks during a telephone conversation regarding future plans for the liquefaction of Israeli gas in Egypt as well as discussed ongoing cooperation within the framework of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum.

The two ministers stressed the necessity and importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the forum’s members to unlock the full potential of gas in the region and beyond, according to statements made by both ministers cited in the release.
