Odfjell Drilling announced that the Deepsea Stavanger semi-submersible drilling rig has started its mobilization to South Africa.
Deepsea Stavanger is on contract with Total and partners through Q1 2021 with an option to extend until the end of 2022.
Odfjell Drilling reported in May that, due to ongoing restrictions related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Odfjell Drilling and Total South Africa had agreed that the semi-submersible Deepsea Stavanger was to remain idle in Norway for a period prior to the mobilization of the rig.
Total E&P South Africa B.V. is the operator with a 45% participating interest in Block 11B/12B. Main Street 1549 Proprietary Limited, Qatar Petroleum International Upstream LLC, and CNR International (South Africa) Limited are partnered with the French supermajor on the license.
