Deeper Production Testing for Heritage

Friday, February 16, 2007

On February 15, Heritage Oil Corp. released a statement announcing preparations for production testing at deeper intervals in the Kingfisher-1A deviated exploration well on Uganda’s Block 3A. Heritage is the operator of the block, and plans to test three intervals with a total thickness of 44 meters between 2,260 and 2,367 meters.

Last November at a depth of 1,783 meters, a shallower interval was tested in the Kingfisher-1 well, producing 4,120 bpd over a 10 meter interval. The tested oil was light (c. 30 degrees API) and sweet with a low gas-oil ratio and some associated wax. Flow data showed that the reservoir had an extremely high permeability of over 2,000 milliDarcies.

The Kingfisher-1A was drilled to a total depth of 3,195 meters, which was close to the rig’s operational capability limit. The company’s wireline logs and formation pressure testing revealed indications of hydrocarbons over the planned test intervals, the thickest of which is 21 meters.

Heritage expects to commence testing within 10 days, and to consume up to three weeks. Test equipment has remained at the wellsite following the initial test of the Kingfisher-1 well.

When the test results are out, Heritage will provide further details about its activities, including the acquisition of a 3D seismic survey and further appraisal drilling to evaluate the deepest potential of the basin.
