Breaking News – Tanzania Launches New Bid Round

International oil and gas companies will now have the opportunity to bid on highly-prospective exploration acreage in Tanzania. Today, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (GoT) through the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) has informed Petroleum Africa that Tender No. 02 of 2007/2008 has been launched. Following are the details of the bid round provided by TPDC.

TENDER NO. 02 OF 2007/2008

FOR PSA APPLICATION PROPOSALS FOR HYDROCARBON EXPLORATION IN SIX AREAS IN TANZANIA

1. The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (GoT) through the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) has allocated six open areas for hydrocarbon exploration through international competitive bidding.

2. TPDC Tender Board now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for PSA application proposals for hydrocarbon exploration in the following six areas in Tanzania:

3.     Separate bids must be presented for each Area/Lot. If a bidder submits proposals for more than one area, the bidder’s priority given to each Area/Lot should be clearly indicated. Each Area/Lot will be evaluated independently.

4.     A complete set of Bidding Document(s) in English language including maps and any further information may be inspected and obtained from the Director of Exploration, Production and Technical Services at TPDC offices situated at Plot 37/38 Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road, Upanga, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive except on Public Holidays or may be downloaded from TPDC’s website at www.tpdc-tz.com. Any available data can be obtained from TPDC after paying data copying charges.

5.  The deadline for submission of Bids will be on Monday, 3^rd December, 2007 at 10:00 am local time.  Bids will be collected at the main building of Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation, Head Office at Plot 37/38 Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road, Upanga, Dar es Salaam, thereafter to be opened in public and in the presence of Bidders or their representatives who choose to attend at TPDC Social Club located at Plot No. 4 Mikocheni B, Dar es Salaam.

6.  A non-refundable bid fee of US$ 5000 per Lot must accompany the bid. Payment may be made by Cash at TPDC Cashier’s Office, or by Telegraphic Transfer or Banker’s Cheque which may be deposited in our Bank Account as indicated below:

7.     Late Bids, Portions of Bids, Electronic Bids, Bids not received, Bids not opened and Bids not read out in public at the bid opening ceremony shall not be accepted for evaluation irrespective of the circumstances.

8.     Bids in one original plus two copies, properly filled in and enclosed in plain envelopes may be delivered by courier or deposited in the tender box located at the main building of Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation, Head office, Plot 37/38 Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road, Upanga, P.O. Box 2774, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

9.      The outer cover shall clearly be  marked and addressed to:
