In late January, Angola’s National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), and its partners in Block 15/06, Sonangol P&P and SSI Fifteen Ltd., delivered a solar system installed in the health center of Cabo Ledo, in the municipality of Quiçama, Luanda province.
The opening act was attended by the national director for petroleum at the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas Alcides Santos, by ANPG’s block manager Américo Nascimento and coordinator of social responsibility projects, Anacy Lourenço, as well as by Eni Angola’s Managing Director, Matteo Bacchini. Senior officials from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, among others, were also present.
The 14 KW solar system is part of a social project focused of the electrification of health centers, which aims to promote renewable energies while also improving the quality and availability of health services in the project areas.
The project is in line with the objectives of the Angolan Executive’s National Development Plan (2018-2022) and also aims to contribute to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDS) for health and well-being (ODS 3) and accessible and clean energy (ODS 7).
Angola plays a key role in the growth strategy of Eni, which has been present in the country since 1980. In addition to Block 15/06, Eni currently operates the Cabinda Norte Block, Block 1/14, Cabinda Centro Block and Block 28.
