Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has awarded WorleyParsons a contract for the detailed design and engineering for the topsides process modules of the FPSO vessel for a deep-water oil field located offshore Nigeria.

The project will be executed under the Nigerian local content law, demonstrating WorleyParsons’ ability to support efforts to engage and invest in local capacity building and development as a key differentiator in the exciting Nigerian and West African market.

The expected revenue to WorleyParsons from this contract is over $100 million.

The contract will be executed largely in Lagos, Nigeria in conjunction with a consortium of Nigerian engineering companies, NETCO/DeltaAfrik/IESL, as approved by the Nigerian National Petroleum Co., with technical support from WorleyParsons Melbourne.

The scope of work includes the modularized topsides crude oil processing facilities, natural gas compression facilities, power generation, compression, metering systems, flare systems, and various other utilities in support of the overall operation of the FPSO.

Commenting on the contract award, WorleyParsons’ CEO, Andrew Wood, stated: “We are delighted that SHI has chosen WorleyParsons to deliver this significant FPSO project in Africa. This important award builds on the successful relationship we have with SHI and represents a strong development of our ability to locally support the offshore oil and gas business in West Africa.”
