Philia Completes 3D Survey Offshore Congo

Sunday, January 31, 2016

Philia saw the completion of 3D seismic offshore the Republic of Congo on the Marine XIII concession. Philia, an Africa focused independent, is the operator of the concession with an 85% interest.

The survey commenced on December 14 and completed on December 31 and Philia told Petroleum Africa this was the first ever 3D seismic shot on the northern portion of the block. Polarcus France SAS acquired the seismic using the Polarcus Alima.

Polarcus and Philia planned, designed, and operated the survey efficiently completing the acquisition on time, with no HSE incidents, no standby and a minimal infill program.

The survey acquired 237 sq km of full-fold data covering the northern half of the Marine XIII, with the objective to enable more precise interpretation of prospective hydrocarbon plays in the pre-salt and in the post-salt prospective sequences of the sedimentary Congo Basin.

The seismic data is currently being processed by a specialist contractor and final 3D seismic volume migrated in depth will be made available in July 2016 to enable the contractor group to identify locations for possible future exploration drilling.
